I’m totally in love with the Outlander TV series.  For those of you who don’t know what it’s about it’s based on a series of fantasy romance novels by Diana Gabaldon.  It’s about an English woman, Claire Randall, who in the 1940s slips through a crack in time and finds herself in the Highlands of Scotland in the years before the Jacobite rebellion of 1745.  Adopting her maiden name of Claire Beauchamp to protect herself she gets taken in by the members of a Highland clan and eventually falls in love with and marries the (very!) handsome Jamie Fraser.  The clan are being harried by an English army officer, Jack Randall, who happens to be the direct ancestor of Frank, the man Claire is married to in the 1940s (yes, Claire is a temporal bigamist!).  I can’t wait for Season 2, at which time I’ll start reading the next novel too (so don’t tell me what happens!).  The TV series is full of gorgeous Scottish scenery, much rampant Scottishness, a fair amount of gruesome violence and some of the most tastefully beautiful love scenes you’ll ever see!

Anyway…. to cut a long story short, the people at !gO! are also great fans of the series and they’ve produced their version of the sort of costumes that Claire Beauchamp/Randall/Fraser wears for much of Season 1.  It’s a lovely long tweed skirt with matching jerkin and an optional apron.  You can see Catriona Balfe, who plays Claire, at the bottom of this post.  Isn’t she gorgeous?!
